That is why we have developed an ambitious policy of continual improvement in Quality, Safety and Environment.
- Quality should allow us to satisfy our customers and to improve our products, our services and our productivity.
- Continual improvement in safety remains vital to preserve our associates from accidents and illnesses that could arise in their professional functions.
- The environment must be protected in every act involved in the industrial life of an industry, from product design to destruction.
Ferraz Shawmut is concerned about the development and well-being of our personnel so they can take effective responsibility for implementing our policies.
Our continual improvement will be the best source of satisfaction for our customers and all our partners.
Ferraz Shawmut Quality Policy 
Our objective is to achieve excellence for all our products and processes. This in turn will lead to profitable growth.
Compliance to ISO 9001-2000 Standards for Quality, as well as to standard Carbone Lorraine quality practices – named QPC (Continual Quality Improvement), ensures that both management system and organization as a whole remain consistently focused on this objective.
Our quality policy consists in:

constantly refining our understanding of all the needs on our markets, - participating from the earliest stages in standards development in electrical protection beyond legal and regulatory conformity,
- satisfying our customers with continually greater added value in the design, production and innovation of personnel safety and electrical equipment protection products and services,
- increasing the efficiency of all the company’s processes and activities, while reducing losses and waste to reach the profit levels expected by our shareholders,
- involving our suppliers in a process to improve their performance and its reliability,
- motivating our teams and recognizing the progress accomplished.
Ferraz Shawmut Safety Policy
Ferraz Shawmut is committed to making our facilities safe and healthy for all associates and visitors. This commitment will be carried out by all of our managers and Safety committees and implemented at the relevant levels in the organization.
According to Carbone Lorraine group’s policy, our aim is to be a leader in safety, working towards a zero accident record. It includes compliance with legal and regulatory obligations and other requirements to which we subscribe, as concerns occupational health and safety.
To aid us in this task, we have Carbone Lorraine safety manual empowered by local documentations and our continual improvement approach which relies on:
- occupational health and safety input in design of production processes and in all workshop(s) or office(s) layout,
- technical teams training to ergonomic rules and promotion of safety positive attitudes,
- prevention in the field and control of risks,
- effective, day-to-day involvement of all personnel,
- accidents and incidents analysis and promptly dealing with their cause(s),
- implementation of an annual safety improvement plan.
Ferraz Shawmut Environmental Policy
Our objective is to improve our environmental performance throughout our products’ life cycle by including environmental considerations in all stages in development, production and sale of our products and services.
Part of achieving this is the establishment of an environmental management system, integrated with the existing quality management system, which meets the requirements of ISO 14001 at all our sites around the world.
Our policy, consistent with the Carbone Lorraine group’s environmental policy, consists of 5 broad directions which provide a framework for setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets:
- acting at the design stage of new products and processes, to protect the environment and human beings through a concern to prevent pollution,
- providing our customers with high-quality products while minimizing the environmental impacts,
- complying with environmental legislation, regulations and other requirements to which we subscribe and, if necessary, assisting in development of environmental rules and regulations pertaining either to locations or to products,
- monitoring, reducing (when possible) and controlling wastes and the use of toxic substances, including the use of recycling technologies,
- constantly searching for ways to reduce our consumption of water, energy, raw materials and packaging.
